We’re still here in Gulfport right now. Jodi and I went out to find dinner last night. On our way back home we stopped at a red light. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a Chevy Caprice coming up too fast. Before I could speak they rear ended us.
As quick as the driver hit us, she backed up and drove up onto the sidewalk to go around us, turn right and sped away. Luckily we were able to get their license plate number before they could get away. It was fortunate that it took them some time to drive up on the sidewalk and make their turn. That gave us the time to get a good description for the police.
Another plus was that I had not taken the ball out of the hitch. So, the Caprice got a grill full of hitch. Our car just had some minor scratches and some broken trim around the trailer light socket.
We called the police, who arrived rather quickly and got the information to them. We haven’t heard if they found the car and driver or not. Jodi and I were both in some pain so we went to the ER just in case. Minor whiplash was the diagnosis for both of us.

I think from now on, I’ll just leave the hitch in place. It probably saved us from some expensive damage.

Thank, Jen! It WAS crazy!! The lady actually had to back her car off of our hitch and drove up over the sidewalk to get away. No matter the reason for leaving, her life would have been much easier if she would have stayed.

Unbelievable! Or is it in this day and age?! So sorry! Glad you weren’t more seriously hurt! Hope they check the person’s phone for texting…did you tell them what time of day it was when it happened?
